Women's Golf Ends Day One At State Championships In Second Place.

Reedley College is in second place after the opening round of the California Community College Athletic Association Women's Golf Championship on Sunday at the Morro Bay Golf Course.

Head Coach Scott Stark's Northern California champion Lady Tigers are 14 strokes behind first place and defending state champion College of the Canyons after the first 18 holes of the 36-hole competition. Monday's final round begins at 9 am.

Three of the top five teams after Sunday's first round are from Northern California. College of the Canyons leads at 306, followed by Reedley at 320, Modesto Junior College at 323, Santa Barbara City at 326 and Sierra College at 330.

Reedley College freshman Monica Yu is tied for third place in medalist honors with a 74. Other Reedley scores were Mya Chao with a 77, Alyssa Bendure with an 84, Serena DiMauro with an 85, McKenzie Quinn with an 86 and Serena Garcia with an 87.
