Women's Golf Wins At Taft

The Tigers traveled south on Highway 99 and then west into the foothills of Kern County to play a dual match against the Taft College Cougars at Buena Vista Golf Course.  Weather forecasters called for sunny and warm weather for the majority of the day, with temperatures in the high 80's, and the Tigers withstood the difficult playing conditions for their afternoon round.  The Tigers played good golf, shooting a team score of 344, and though they played without their #1 player Monica Yu, they easily defeating the Taft College team.  Leading the way for the Tigers and shooting a round of 81 on the day was Serena DiMauro.  Next was Freshman Mya Chao, who fired a gutsy round of 86.  Serena Garcia posted a round of 87.  Finally, Eliza Hernandez and McKenzie Quinn both posted rounds of 90, tying for the 4th and final scores on the day. The 344 total was a solid team score at Buena Vista Golf Course, especially with its hilly terrain and severely undulated greens.  Reedley now has an overall record of 1-0 on the young season.  Next up on the schedule is a Big 8 Conference tournament at Kings River Golf & Country Club.  Reedley will be the host for this season-opening round in Kingsburg.  Tee time is slated to begin at 2:00 pm for Tournament #1.
