Women's Soccer Results From Week Two Of CVC Play

A 4-0 home loss to Fresno City College on Friday night dropped the Reedley College women's soccer team to fourth place in the eight-team Central Valley Conference race.

It was the first loss of the season for head coach Onesta Francis' squad, who went into Friday's match ranked sixth in the state and second in Northern California.

On Oct. 4, Reedley recorded a come-from-behind 4-1 road victory over Merced College. A second-half goal by Isabella Salcedo in the 52nd minute put the Tigers ahead to stay. Nazira Nunez opened the Reedley scoring in the 13th minute. Nunez added two assists in the match. Other second-half goals were recorded by Gabrielle Garcia in the 54th minute and Mariela Cruz in the 88th minute.

Reedley took an 8-1-2 overall record into an Oct. 11 match in Visalia against the College of the Sequoias before hosting West Hills Lemoore at 6 p.m. Friday. On Tuesday, Oct. 18, Reedley is at third place Clovis.

All of Reedley's Friday games are at home and the rest of the Tuesday games are on the road.
