Men's Golf Finishes Second At Riverside Invitational

The Reedley College Tigers played in the annual Riverside City College Invitational, hosted by the RCC Tigers.  The field was very strong with every school in Southern California's Top 10 at the event.  The weather was unbelievable, with sunny, blue skies and temperatures in the mid-'70s. There was just a hint of a breeze, but nothing that would prevent the players from posting solid scores.  The tournament was held at The Victoria Club, a 117-year old facility in Riverside, and the Tigers posted a very solid team score of 369 (+9).  The Tigers finished in 2nd Place in the 17-team tournament, only trailing College of the Canyons from Southern California, by 6 shots.  Tournament co-medalist honors for the Tigers went to Chris Chomyn, who posted a very solid round of 70 (-2), making an Eagle and 5 Birdies on the day!  Chris had the lowest score of any of the 101 players in the field on Monday!! Tommy O'Rourke and Justin Kim both turned in very solid rounds of 1-over par 73 and finished in T-9th positions Individually.  Hogi Selling fired a round of 76, finishing with 3 Birdies on his card.  Lastly, Beau Willett carded a round of 77 to cap the scoring for the Tigers.  This was the 5th time that the Tigers have played in this event representing Northern California, and they have never finished outside of the Top 4! The 369 team score tied the mark set last year by the 2019 team as the best score for the Tigers at this great event! Overall, it was a terrific building block for the 2020 season, and the Tigers look forward to their next tournament at Merced Golf & Country Club in Merced on Monday.  The tournament will be a Big 8 South Division tournament neutral site event against Fresno City, San Jose City, Monterey Peninsula, and Taft.  It will be the 4th Big 8 Conference South Division tournament for each of these 5 divisional rivals, with Reedley holding a 10 point advantage through the previous three tournaments. Reedley College will be the tournament host, and a shotgun start is scheduled for 12:00 noon in Merced.
