Men's Golf Wins NorCal Preview Tournament

The Tigers traveled north on Highway 99 and then west to Highway 5 into the suburbs of Sacramento and into the rural town of Woodland for the Northern California Preview Tournament at Yolo Fliers Golf Club, hosted by Sierra College.  The Tigers, as well as their 4 other South Division members, used this tournament as a conference match as well.  Weather forecasters called for a partly sunny day, with temperatures in the low 60's, and very little breeze for this 12-team shotgun start.  The Tigers played solid golf from tee to green, and also performed admirably once on the putting surfaces.  The Reedley team averaged only 31 putts per player, which is very solid, and made 12 Birdies on the day!  The Tigers shot a team score of 372, +12 over par for five players, easily winning the tournament over all of the other teams in Northern California by 9 shots.  Leading the way for the Tigers and shooting the 2nd best round of the day was Freshman Beau Willett, who posted a round of Even par 72.  Next was Sophomore Morgan Cooper, who fired a very good round of +1 over par 73, also finishing in the Top 5 scores on the day.  Sophomore Bailey Flickinger posted a very fine round of 75.  Freshman Tommy O'Rourke and Sophomore Xavier Coreno tied with rounds of 76 apiece for the Tigers to cap the scoring for the day.  The 372 total enabled the Tigers to claim their 2nd victory in the last 5 days on the young 2019 season.  Reedley now has an overall record of 4-0 in the Big 8 South Division.  Next up on the schedule is another Big 8 South Division Tournament, this one at Coyote Creek Golf Club in San Jose on Monday, February 18th.  A mini-shotgun start is slated for 12:30 pm.
