Men's Basketball Loses In OT to Merced

Reedley College dropped a pair of close games in the Central Valley Conference men's basketball race last week.

Coach TJ Jennings' Tigers fell to 2-4 in the CVC  after a 93-88 overtime loss to Merced College on Jan. 18 and a 70-62 loss to Porterville College on the road last Saturday night.

Reedley returns to action against the conference leader, the College of the Sequoias Giants, on Jan. 25, in Reedley, The second round of conference action begins on Saturday in Coalinga against West Hills.

Reedley was outscored 11-6 in the overtime against Merced. Reedley's Obadiah Curtis led all scorers in the game with 32 points before fouling out with 1:33 left in regulation. Merced's Mike Teal, who had eight of the Merced nine points in the extra period, also had 32 points.

Curtis, who was just 8 of 22 from the floor, led Reedley against Porterville with 19 points. Khalil Shivers recorded six assists.
