Tigers Rally Big to Beat Taft

Rallying from an 8-1 deficit after six innings, the Reedley College baseball Tigers recorded a wild 13-9 victory over the Taft College Cougars on Thursday afternoon in Taft.

The win kept head coach Steve Pearce's Tigers tied with Fresno City and Sequoias in the early lead in the CVC with 2-0 records. Reedley is now 11-7 overall going into a 1 pm scheduled Saturday game with Taft.

On Thursday, Reedley sent 13 batters to the plate in an 8-run rally in the top of the ninth inning to take control. Nick Martinez led the Tigers' 14-hit attack with three hits and three RBI. Mitchell Page scored the go ahead run on a passed ball before Hans Brown added a two-run double. Damien Holmes finished with a triple and a single while Ty Bamford added a double and a single. The Tigers were aided by 11 walks from seven Taft pitchers.

Masyn Ashford recorded the pitching win for the Tigers, in relief of starter Evan Sagariballa, who allowed seven runs in five and a third innings. Sid Lacy retired three of the four batters he faced in the bottom of the ninth.
