Tiger's Triumph: Reedley College Basketball Roars into the Season with A Winning Spirit!

In a riveting start to the season, Reedley College's men's and women's basketball teams have set the court ablaze, showcasing their tenacity and skill. Despite a challenging week in San Diego, the Tigers emerge with heads held high, ready to conquer the rest of the season.

Women's Basketball: Battling with Grit and Grace

The Reedley College women's basketball team, under the guidance of Coach Dan Kilbert, has proven that setbacks are just stepping stones to success. After a narrow defeat in San Diego, the team rebounded emphatically, securing a 49-46 victory over San Bernardino Valley on Friday.

Leyocha Marigney, the freshman sensation, continues to be a force on the court. In the face of adversity against San Diego City, Marigney poured in 19 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, showcasing her season averages of 17.1 points and 20.3 rebounds per game. The resilient Tigers, led by Tienna Sutherland's 11 points, rallied to defeat San Bernardino Valley.

The loss to Imperial Valley was a tough pill to swallow, but Marigney's stellar performance with 28 points and 20 rebounds underscores the team's unwavering determination. Reedley hosted Allan Hancock on Nov. 21, aiming to build on their recent successes. With eyes set on redemption, the Tigers will return to their home court on Nov. 29 to face the College of the Canyons, gearing up for a thrilling rematch with Imperial Valley on Dec. 15 in Bakersfield.

As the Tigers carve their path through the season, Coach Kilbert remains optimistic. "Our team is learning and growing with each game. The early challenges will only make us stronger as we head into the heart of the season. The character and skill of this team are undeniable."

Men's Basketball: Second-Half Surge Ignites Victory Flames

Meanwhile, the Reedley College men's basketball team showcased their offensive prowess in a spectacular 89-69 victory over Solano College in Fairfield. After leading 39-27 at halftime, the Tigers turned up the heat, outscoring the hosts 50-42 in the second half.

Jayden Abuyen emerged as the driving force, leading the charge with an impressive 23 points. Kecian Primes (17 points), Carlos Craig (15 points and 10 rebounds), and Matt Ruegge (11 points) joined the scoring parade, propelling the Tigers to triumph.

While the Tigers faced a setback against Los Positas College earlier in the season, they are undeterred and ready for redemption. With Primes leading with 13 points and an eager return to action at College of San Mateo next Monday, the Tigers are poised for a comeback.

Coach Kilbert reflects on the team's resilience, stating, "Our ability to bounce back from adversity is a testament to the character of these athletes. We have a deep roster with players who can make significant contributions, and that depth will be a key factor as we navigate through the challenges ahead."
