Tiger Women's Soccer Heads to Playoffs

Tiger Women's Soccer Heads to Playoffs

Reedley College Women's Soccer Team have qualified for playoffs for the 2nd consecutive year and 3rd appearance since program inception in 2017.  The Tigers will face Fresno City College at FCC on Saturday, Nov. 18th for a 2pm kickoff.  The Tigers have face FCC twice this season with a 0-0 draw and a 3-2 loss--which was the best ever perfomrance vs the Rams.  Hopefully the Tigers can fight hard for the win and qualify for the next round of playoffs.

Overall the Tigers finished the regular season with a 4-0 win over Madera Friday night in Reedley behind the stellar performance by CVC Midfielder-of-the-Year Nazira Nunez.

The win improved Reedjey to 9-6-1 in conference action (good.for third place) and 12-7-1 overall. "It was a good balanced team performance," wrote head coach Onesta Francis in a Sunday night text message. "Four goals, four different goal scorers. The team came out really fired up on sophomore night. Captains combined for the first goal five minutes into the game. There was a goal by Diana Rico, assisted by Nunez on a perfectly placed cross to the near post after a nice throw from Jessica Batres. Madera played with heart and kept it close.

"Goalkeeper Areal Galvan had to make a big-time, save on the shot in close range to keep it one nothing at halftime."

"The team came out refocused in the second half as Krysta Casas scored on a looping header off of a cross from JenniferMartinez. The game got feisty with each team, hitting multiple yellow cards. We were able to keep our composure and score with two free kicks by Nasira Nunes and Martinez.

Jolene Tamariz really controled the infield with 12 ball recoveries and Batres held down the back line with 11 ball recoveries and seven headers. Goalkeeper Natalie Duran came in the second half and kept a clean sheet. Good game, now on to the playoffs!!
