Tiger W-Golf with a Big Win at Belmont CC

On Tuesday, by a margin of 15 strokes, Reedley College's women's golf Tigers finished second for a Sept. 19 Big 8 Conference women's golf tournament.

That changed two days later on Thursday afternoon at the Belmont Country Club in Fresno when the Tigers shot a season best team score of 313 to win the tournament by eight strokes over defending state champion Modesto Junior College.

Ethel Asequia of RC took medalist with a two-under-par round of 70, making five birdies on the afternoon. That was Esequia's 2nd consecutive Medalist finish. Ava Arredondo was next for the Black and Orange with a 76 (good for fourth place) followed by Meghan Hansen with an 83, Gabrielle Jasso and Miya Zolkoske both with an 84 and Melanie Davila with an 86.

Other team scores included Sierra with a 412, Sacramento City with a 353 and Napa Valley with a 343. Fresno City and Taft did not have enough players for a team.

On Sept. 26, Reedley heads to the Chardonnay Golf Course in Napa for a dual match with the Storm before returning to Napa for a Big 8 Conference tournament.

On Sept. 19, Asequia was medalist with a round of 78 at Whitney Oaks course in Rocklin. Arredondo did not play due to illness. Other RC scores included Hansen with an 89, Jasso with an 96, Zolkoske with a 102 and Davila with a 107.
