Spectacular Tiger Softball Season Ends At Super Regionals

A great season for the 2019 Reedley College softball Tigers ended on Saturday afternoon in San Jose.
The San Jose City College Jaguars advanced to the California Community College Athletic Association Softball Championships by defeating the Tigers twice by identical scores of 8-0 in San Jose.
Reedley finishes the season with a 33-11 record, tied for 12th for the most victories in the state. San Jose takes a season record of 38-4 into the state tournament. The Jaguars will face 37-5 Palomar in a 7pm game at Bakersfield College on Thursday.
Most of the tournament games will be played at BC with the exception of some consolation bracket games at Cal State Bakersfield. The state championship game is scheduled for noon Sunday at Bakersfield College.
In San Jose, the Jaguars took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning Friday on a two-run single by Natasha Sachdeva and never looked back. Kayla Rooney drove in four runs for the winners while Sachdeva finished with three.

Tiger pitcher Emily Grimbeby struck out eight in five innings but was touched for 12 hits and six earned runs.

Reedley managed only four hits off winning pitcher Stefanie Troja, who struck out only one. The Tigers had three of those hits in the third and had the bases loaded before Mariah Hernandez lined into a double play.
Reedley recorded singles by Samantha Lizaola, Sophia Del Bosque, Karlie Fien and Bobbie Falcon.

On Saturday, San Jose scored three times in the first and closed out the contest with three runs in the fifth off reliever Sophia Del Bosque. The big blow was a two-run homer in the first inning by Madison Gardner.
