Softball Takes Two Of Three On Road Trip

You know you are having a great season when you are held to one hit and your team batting average drops to .366.

That's the story for the Reedley College softball team, who won two out of three road games last week to drop to 11-2 on the season.

The loss was a 7-1 defeat on Saturday to College of San Mateo, a team that came into the contest one spot behind the seventh-ranked Tigers (and third in Northern California) in the state rankings.

San Mateo's Emily McAdams held Reedley to one hit, a one-out seventh-inning single by Patty Hernandez. The Tigers did score an unearned run in the fourth inning.

San Mateo ripped 10 hits off Tiger ace Emily Grimbeby and scored three times in the first and fourth innings.

The Tigers bounced back Saturday with a 4-2 win over Shasta, highlighted by a home run off the bat of Sandra Vallejo.

On Friday, Reedley rallied from a 2-0 first inning deficit to defeat Diablo Valley 6-2. Samantha Lizaola had four singles, two stolen bases and drove in two runs to lead the Lady Tigers' 12-hit attack. Bobbie Falcon, Hunter Young, and Patty Hernandez all added two hits for the winners.

Reedley opens Central Valley Conference action with a Tuesday, March 5 noon doubleheader with West Hills Coalinga. Results of a Tuesday, Feb. 26 non-conference twinbill with Ohlone College were not available at press time.
