the Tigers came out to play for the final Big 8 Conference Tournament

On an overcast, cool but somewhat calm afternoon in Madera, the Tigers came out and played a very prolific round of team golf at Madera Golf & Country Club for the final Big 8 Conference Tournament of the 2023 season.  Reedley posted a team score of 371, 11 shots over par for the five counting scores, and displayed the great depth and talent the Tigers have in their starting lineup!  Leading the way was Chase Bird, who shot a fantastic round of 71 (-1), and tied for Individual Medalist honors on the day. Elias Pettersson, playing out of the #3 spot in the line-up, posted a very solid round of 73. Elias had 14 1-putts on the afternoon on punched and sandy greens, needing only 22 puts for the entire round! Josh Bennett, playing out of the #4 spot in the Tiger lineup, carded a round of 74 for the Tigers, making 2 Birdies and 12 pars on the day. Preston Harris posted a round of 76, making 10 pars and only needing 31 putts. Finally, Preston Castleton, playing #6, carded a 77 to cap the scoring for the Tigers on this day. Preston hung in there tough mentally considering he made a double and a triple on the day, so played the other 16 holes in Even par golf! The Tigers five scorers were in the top 15 overall for the tournament, and enabled them to come away with the victory by 5 shots over a Fresno City team that plays the Madera GCC on a weekly basis.  Due to the course being entirely aerated, the 371 team score was very impressive.  The Tigers concluded the regular season with a record of 83-5, a new Reedley College Men's Golf record for total wins in a season, surpassing the previous record of 77, held by the State Championship team of 2016!!  The Tigers play next at the Northern California Regional Championships at Castle Oaks GC in Ione this upcoming Monday and Tuesday mornings.  Modesto Junior College will be the host school for the championship.  A 9:30 AM tee time start is scheduled for both days at this gem of a course nestled in the rolling hills of Northern California!
