Men's Golf Increases Lead In Big 8 Conference

The Tigers played Big 8 Conference Tournament #3 at Sunnyside Country Club with a terrific round of golf, shooting a team score of 376, defeating Fresno City College by 13 shots, San Jose City College by 16 shots, Monterey Peninsula College by 23 strokes, and Taft College by 36 shots.  The weather conditions in Fresno were comfortable and sunny, with temperatures in the mid-60's, and very little wind. The greens were soft and moderately fast, and the Tigers took advantage of their opportunities on the day and made 11 birdies as a team, shooting a very good team score and extending their lead in the Big 8 Valley Division to 8 points through the first 3 tournaments. Leading the way for the Tigers and the overall tournament medalist on the day was Tommy O'Rourke, who posted a very solid round of 2 over par 74.  Bailey Flickinger and Xavier Coreno both carded well-executed rounds of 3 over par 75. Dylan Otto and Morgan Cooper finalized the scoring for the Tigers by posting good rounds of 76.  The win moved the Tigers to 12-0 in the Big 8 Conference, and 12-0 overall.  The Tigers now have 4 of the Top 6 players in the Big 8 South Division Individual Standings.  Next up for the Tigers on Monday will be another Big 8 South Division opportunity at their home course, Kings River Golf & Country Club in Kingsburg.  A shotgun start is scheduled for 12:00 noon.
