At San Diego Mesa Hart was the defensive coordinator, associate head coach, linebackers, and defensive backs coach.

Prior to Mesa Hartenfels coached here at Reedley College as the Associate Head Coach and Running Backs & Tight Ends Coach. He was part of the 10-0 and Conference Championship and a Bowl Bid, Northern California Football Association American Division.

Rob Hartenfels spent two seasons at Quincy University DII (2017-18) as the Special Teams Coordinator and Defensive Backs Coach

While at Quincy, Hartenfels was part of defenses that have ranked 13th in NCAA Division II in defensive touchdowns, 29th in total defense, and 25th in passing yards allowed.

Hartenfels came to Quincy from East Los Angeles College where he was the defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach in 2015
 
Prior to East Los Angeles College, Hartenfels coached at Occidental College in Los Angeles where he was the defensive backs coach, recruiting coordinator, and special team’s coordinator. 2012-2014
 
Prior to Occidental Hartenfels coached Three years at Oaks Christian High School in Los Angeles as the Cornerbacks coach and special team’s coordinator, winning a CIF Championship in 2010. He has also been an assistant coach and operations, staff member, for the Army All-American Game for the previous ten years.
 
Northeastern Pennsylvania native played defensive back at Division II East Stroudsburg University in his home state, serving as a team captain before leaving early to pursue his coaching career in southern California. He later graduated from Ashford University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in sport management and a Masters from Concordia of Chicago in Exercise Science.
