Reedley College begins conference football action at 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon at Orange Cove High School against the Contra Costa College Comets.

All but 12 of the state's 68 community college football teams had last weekend off. Reedley, at 3-2, is tied for 19th in the JC Athletic Bureau poll. Contra Costa, fresh from a 49-15 win over Chabot, is 1-3. The Comets lost to San Joaquin Delta, Santa Rosa, and Laney.

The Tigers are joined by Sacramento City College and the College of the Sequoias at 3-2 in the Valley Conference standings. Other Saturday conference openers feature College of the Sequoias at Fresno City College at 1 p.m. and Sacramento City College at Modesto Junior College at 5 p.m.
