Lightning stopped two high school football games at halftime in the Reedley area Thursday night.
It struck again Saturday afternoon in the first half of the matchup on Saturday afternoon as the Reedley College Tigers jumped out to a 35-0 halftime and went on for a 38-6 win over the College of the Siskiyous Eagles.
The Tigers take a 2-0 record on the road this Saturday to face the 0-2 Santa Rosa Junior College this Saturday afternoon. Santa Rosa fell to Fresno City College 24-7 on Saturday. FCC only outgained Santa Rosa by 21 yards and had only 21 net yards rushing in the loss.
It was the ninth straight win for the Tigers, who last week were ranked 18th in the state by the JC Athletic Bureau. The winning streak is tied with Allan Hancock for second best in the state, trailing only Riverside City College.
Against Siskiyous, Reedley recorded twice as many yards in punt return yardage in the first half than Siskiyous recorded in total yardage. The Eagles netted only 61 yards of net total offense while the Tigers recorded 122 yards in punt return yards.
Four different Tigers reached the end zone in the first half explosion. Tamicus Napier (Murfreesboro, TN) capped an 83–yard drive on Reedley's first possession with a 9-yard touchdown run. Kicker-punter Jorge Rosales (Arvin) added the first of his five extra-point kicks. He also added a 27-yard field goal in the second and also kicked four of his seven kickoffs into the end zone for touchbacks.
Josh Magana (Dinuba) started at quarterback before Jordan Solomon (Las Vegas, NV) took over. Solomon started the 28-point second quarter with a 59-yard scoring pass to Dallas Parker (Victorville).
About four minutes later, Devin McGee (Las Vegas, NV) returned a Siskiyous punt 47 yards for six points. After a three-and-out by the Tiger defense, redshirt sophomore Jaylin Jackson returned another punt 75 yards for six points.
The first of two interceptions by Joshua Williamson (Tampa, FL) got the ball back for Reedley. Five plays later, Solomon found Jackson on a short pass. Jackson broke several tackles on the way to a 41-yard score.
