BC Sweeps Cerro Coso and Reedley at the Reedley Tri

BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Bakersfield College Volleyball team traveled to Reedley College for the Reedley Tri on Saturday, September 14th. The Renegades took on Cerro Coso in the first match-up and then the host team. BC showcased their strength and went home with two sweeps of the day. The first set scores of 25-17, 25-18, and 25-16, and the second set of scores over Reedley 25-14, 25-21, 25-10. 

Bakersfield's attack was led by standout performances from several players. Stevie Yurisk had 13 kills on 27 attempts while also contributing 12 digs and 2 block assists for a total of 16 points. Kamryn Briggs also played a key role, registering 10 kills on 18 attempts, hitting at a .444 percentage, and tallying 6 service aces. Carly Hayes and Abriana Naranjo were solid at the net, combining for 8 kills and 8 block assists. Setter Taylor Drake orchestrated the offense with 24 assists. The Bakersfield defense accumulated 69 digs and effectively shut down Cerro Coso's attack. 

In the second match, Briggs led the way for Bakersfield with 16 kills on 34 attempts. She also contributed 14 digs. Alongside Briggs, Yursik was a key offensive force, adding another 13 kills, 9 digs, and 3 block assists. Drake finished the match with 37 assists and added a service ace. Bakersfield's serving game was strong, recording 6 service aces, while their defense racked up 54 digs and 16 block assists, keeping Reedley's offense in check throughout the match. 

With the two wins, BC moves to 6-4 on the season. They will return home this Friday, September 20th for High School night at the Gil Bishop Sports Center to take on Santa Barbara City College.
