
COALINGA – The Coalinga College women's volleyball team went 1-1 last week, splitting its Central Valley Conference matches.
On Wednesday, the Falcons rolled to a 25-13, 25-18, 25-21 sweep of Reedley College at home. But the squad couldn't keep the momentum going and suffered a 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-23) loss at Merced College on Friday to close out the week's action.
Over the two matches, Macy Ellis led the Falcons with 21 kills to go along with 20 digs, and a pair of blocks.
Ellis posted 10 kills and 12 digs in the win over Reedley. Sarah Wold led Coalinga 20 assists and 15 digs. Zoe Ruskofsky had 7 kills, 13 diogs, and 2 aces, while Aryam Munoz added 13 digs and 3 aces.
Ellis and Ruskofsky once again paced the offense in the tough loss at Merced. Ellis totaled 11 kills and 8 digs while Ruskofsky had 10 kills and a match-high 18 digs.
Wold led the Falcons with 21 assists and Munoz added 16 digs.
Coalinga moved to 13-4 overall and 2-3 in Central Valley Conference play. The Falcons are back in action on Wednesday (Oct. 9) when they host in-district rival Lemoore College in a 6 p.m. CVC match.
