
The Reedley College baseball Tigers swept three Central Valley rConference games from Coalinga College last week, winning the three by a combined score of 48-10.
The Tigers improved to 3-3 in the Central Valley Conference and 9-10 overall, going into a three-game weather permitting series with the College of the Sequoias Giants on Tuesday, WEDNESDAY (re-scheduled) and Saturday, if the weather cooperates. The Tuesday and Saturday games will be played at home.
Two non-conference games with Bakersfield College are scheduled March 18 and 19. The series opener is scheduled for 2 p.m. first pitch. The first game is set at Reedley before the Tigers head south the next day at 2 p.m.
The wild week began for the Tigers on March 4 in Coalinga with the Tigers recording a 22-2 win. Last Thursday, Reedley won by a 15-0 count before having to come from behind for a 10-6 win on Saturday in Coalinga.
In the opener, Francisco Espejo limited the Falcons to one run to remain unbeaten this season. Every Tiger starter drove in at least one run with Owen Lindstrom knocking in four. Andrew Mora had three hits and scored five runs.
On Thursday, four Reedley pitchers combined on a four-hit shutout of the Falcons.
Coalinga's biggest threat came in the first inning as southpaw Nick Ohman struck out two batters with Falcons at second and third. Reedley scored four times in the third and sixth and five times in the fourth inning.
Eli Garay led off the sixth with a home run. It was only the second round tripper in Reedley's 18 games this season. Omari Barksdale had a double and a triple as every Tiger starter had at least one hit in a 16-hit attack.
In the Saturday contest, Reedley trailed 5-2 before scoring eight times in the top half of the fifth inning. Rey Peraza drove in three runs to cap the inning.
