
The Tiger Women's Basketball team is poised nicely in their playoff hopes, with a record of 5-2 in Central Valley Conference play and an overall record of 13-10. The top 24 teams in NorCal qualify for 3C2A post-season and the Tigers are sitting at the 19th best RPI in NorCal. After coming off of a string of 4 wins in the last 5 games, the Tigers will face the #1 NorCal team in College of the Sequoias tomorrow (Feb 5th at 5pm).
In a commanding performance on February 1, 2025, the Reedley women's basketball team defeated Lemoore with an impressive 91-52 final score. The game, which took place at Reedley, saw the home team capitalize on strong offensive and defensive play throughout all four quarters.
From the opening tip, Reedley asserted its dominance. A scorching 26-point first quarter helped the team establish an early lead that Lemoore struggled to overcome. Reedley shot 45% from the field, with several players stepping up to contribute in both scoring and rebounding. In contrast, Lemoore managed only 2 points in the opening frame and faced a tough uphill battle for the rest of the game.
Reedley's offensive depth was a key factor in the blowout win, with four players reaching double digits in scoring. Taylor Sutherland led the charge for Reedley with 17 points, including 8 field goals, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists. Tianna Sutherland was not far behind, adding 16 points and contributing 4 rebounds and 3 assists.
Raquel Cortez contributed 7 points and helped in defensive hustle as well. Alexis Holland and Allison Friesen also provided important contributions, with Holland adding 5 points and 4 rebounds in 25 minutes of play, and Friesen adding 5 points with 4 assists.
The bench also played a significant role in the blowout, with Karisma Truong providing a spark, scoring 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting, including 4 three-pointers. Jacqueline Ruiz added 9 points and 7 rebounds, while Abbie Hernandez chipped in with 10 points, helping Reedley maintain its substantial lead throughout the game.
