Volleyball Drops Home Match To West Hills

In a matchup of two teams looking for their first Central Valley Conference women's volleyball victory, the West Hills College Lemoore Golden Eagles came out on top.

Set scores were 20-25, 25-22, 25-23, 26-24.

WCHL improved to 1-2 in the CVC and 1-6 overall while the Lady Tigers fell to 0-4 and 1-6.

"We are a young team," said Reedley head coach Mariah Roby after the loss. "We had a few too many unforced errors tonight. When we see them again in the second half (Oct. 30 in Lemoore), it will be a different story."

Reedley actually had an 18-14 lead in the fourth set before the Golden Eagles went on a 5-1 lead to tie it. The Tigers went on a run of their own to take a 23-20 lead of their own before West Hills freshman Morgan Turner (Kerman) made four straight plays at the net to close out the match.

Freshman Isabelle del Fierro (Sierra) led the Lady Tigers with 15 kills. Freshman Nikole Rodriguez (Reedley) was next with 10 kills.

The Tigers only had seven players while West Hills Lemoore had 10 players see action.

Reedley is back on the court on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at Fresno City College. The Rams are ranked third in the state this season and have won 115 consecutive conference matches since a loss in Reedley in 2012.

Reedley will also host an Alumni match at noon on Saturday, Oct. 5. The oldest player is expected to be from the 1995 Tiger squad, according to Roby.
