Tiger softball sweeps Merced and Clinches NorCal Playoffs!

The Tiger softball team battled all year long and finished strong in CVC play when it counted most.  The sweep vs. Merced on Tuesday clinched the qualification to the 3C2A NorCal playoffs.  It was no easy task as the Bluedevils of Merced did not go down without a fight.  In game one of the double-header, the score remained tied at 0-0 for all 7-innings.  The TIgers struck quickly in extra innings scoring the winning run in the bottom of the 8th to win 1-0.  The second game proved to be more of the same. The Tigers went up early in the bottom of the first 1-0.  The game remained stingy until the top of the 3rd inning when Merced tied it up 1-1.  With good pitching and strong defense for both teams, the Tigers were finally able to break through in the bottom of the 6th with a base hit by Mylie Lerma to score Sanchez.  Trinity Sanchez pitched a complete game in the first game and 3.2 innings in the 2nd with Lerma closing out the remainder of the 2nd game to get the crucial win that now has the Tigers as the 11th highest RPI in NorCal.  We are still waiting for the seeding meeting to determine our playoff opponent, but it is likely San Jose City on the road.  BE SURE TO CHECK OUR WEBSITE FOR UPDATES ON PLAYOFF DATES & TIMES.

In just two seasons, Coach Nomura has turned around the program that was hit hard by COVID-19.  "We are all so proud of their hard work and determination.... this was a group effort all the way around".

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK TIGERS!!
