It has been an interesting preseason for head coach Mariah Stewart and the Reedley College Volleyball team.

First, the team has been forced to practice at the Reedley Community Center. as reconstruction work continues at the Tiger Gymnasium, also known as Paul Mitchell Court, after the late public address announcer. The gym has already got a new roof and touchup continues on a new gym floor. The floor reportedly has not been replaced since the gym was built in 1960.

Next, the Tigers' season opener was postponed with Cerro Coso College as the Ridgecrest school was unable to fill a team. The Tigers, who traveled to Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo for a scrimmage, will officially start the season on Sept. 6 at Sacramento City College.

Conference play begins on Sept. 14 at Merced College. The Tigers' first home match will be against the Blue Devils on Oct. 14.

The Reedley roster includes veterans Haley Thomas (Mt. Whitney, Visalia), Katelyn Hough (Minarets), and Vanessa Rodriguez (Reedley). Newcomers include Bianca Hernandez (Hanford West), Rosa Meraz (Orosi), Erica Hafkey (Minarets), Nadia Rosenfeld (Kingsburg), and Dakota Vermilya (Hoover, Fresno).
