The 2019 Reedley College women's volleyball team started the Central Valley Conference season last week with a pair of home losses.

Reedley, under new head coach Mariah Roby, dropped a 3-0 decision to the Columbia College Claim Jumpers on Sept. 18 before a 3-1 loss to the Taft College Cougars two nights later.

The Tigers fell behind 6-0 in the first set of the 25-15, 25-21, 25-14 loss to Columbia and never fully recovered. Nikole Rodriguez (Reedley) led the Tigers with nine kills.

Against Taft, Reedley played better but still came out on the short end of a 25-15, 23-25, 25-12, 25-20 decision. Rodriguez again led the Tigers with 15 kills while Isabelle del Fierro (Sierra) followed with eight kills. Setter Megan Gentry (Liberty, Madera) had 27 assists.

Reedley returned to the court on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at Merced College before a 6 pm home match against the West Hills College Lemoore Golden Eagles on Friday, Sept. 27. The Tigers travel to Fresno City, the third-ranked team in the state, on Wednesday, Oct. 2.
