Women's Golf Captures 1st Place To Open Up The Season

Under very warm weather conditions, with temperatures reaching over 90 degrees, the Tigers shot a team score of 326 at Greenhorn Creek Resort in Angels Camp at the Modesto Junior College Preseason Invitational.  The golf course played very tough, with rolling hillside lies and out of bounds on many holes, which made scoring very difficult for the players on the afternoon.  The Tigers finished in 1st Place on the day, defeating 3 very competitive programs from Northern California.  Leading the way for the Tigers was Monica Yu, who took Individual Medalist Honors with a solid round of Even par 72. Monica was the only player in the field that broke 80 on the day. Monica had 4 Birdies on the way to her fantastic score! Alyssa Bendure came in with a gutsy round of 81, followed by Serena DiMauro's score of 84.  Mya Chao and Kayla Hernandez both tied for the 4th and final counting scores on the day for the Tigers, shooting rounds of 89.  Monica Yu, Alyssa Bendure, and Serena DiMauro were selected to the Top 6 All MJC Preseason Tournament Team!!  The Tigers should be very proud of their efforts on the day, and it was a great way to kick off the 2019 season for the Reedley College Women's Golf Team!  The focus shifts now to the Desert Classic in Palm Springs for a 36-hole, 2-day tournament in Southern California.  Santa Barbara City College will be the host school for the event, which will feature many of the best golf programs from the southern part of the state of California.  A shotgun start is scheduled for 7:00 am on Friday and Saturday mornings at Tahquitz Creek Golf Club.  The Tigers will play both courses, the Legends, and the Resort, at the Arnold Palmer-designed course.
