Women's Basketball Loses To Shasta By Two

Three losses last week in the College of San Mateo Tournament have dropped Reedley College's women's basketball team to 5-10 on the season.

The closest Coach Dan Kilbert's squad came to a victory was on Saturday when the Lady Tigers fell to Shasta 81-79. Reedley trailed by as many as 10 points in the fourth quarter before rallying to tie the game at 79-all on two free throws by Aurelie Bravo with 17 seconds left. But Shasta's Gabby Rosales scored on an offensive rebound and basket with 10 seconds left for the margin of victory. Bravo missed a jumper with four seconds left.

Bravo finished with a game and season-high of 27 points, making six 3-point attempts. Annie Lopez followed with 24 while Sam Ramirez followed with 16.

The game was tied at 19-all after one quarter before Shasta outscored the Tigers 26-14 in the second quarter.

On Friday, Reedley dropped a 61-48 decision to host College of San Mateo. Bravo had five 3-pointers and finished with 16 to lead the Tiger attack. Lopez finished with 11.

Reedley opened the tournament Thursday with a 99-46 loss to Butte. Bravo led the Tigers with 11 points while Amanpreet Kaur added 10 in just 16 minutes of action.

The Tigers' next game will be on Wednesday, Jan. 8. It will be the team's home opener as they open Central Valley Conference play against West Hills Lemoore at 5 pm. It will be the first game of a doubleheader with the Tiger men playing at 7 pm.
