Women's Basketball Goes 1-1 On The Weekend

Reedley College's women's basketball Tigers continued their 2019 series of road trips to start the new season with two games in Southern California last weekend.

Coach Dan Kilbert's squad went 1-1 last week to give the Lady Tigers a 2-3 record going into a Nov. 26 contest in Santa Maria against the 3-4 Allan Hancock College Bulldogs. After the holiday break, Reedley faces Mt. San Antonio in the first round of the Tom Gilcrest Invitational at 1 pm on Dec. 5.

Reedley fell behind 19-8 after one quarter and eventually dropped an 81-63 decision to East Los Angeles. Amanpreet Kaur and Sam Mendoza both had 14 points to lead the Lady Tigers while Tristan Randle followed with 13.

The Lady Tigers recorded a come-from-behind victory on Friday in Lancaster, edging Antelope Valley 66-63.

Reedley came back from a 10-point deficit in a contest that was tied nine times with four lead changes. Two free throws by Mendoza in the final seconds clinched the victory. Both Kaur and Mendoza finished with 19 points for the winners. Antelope Valley had possession in a tie game but couldn't score.

"The ladies expended a lot of energy on Friday," said Coach Kilbert. "It was a good weekend. The kids had a great time Friday night after the win."
