Men's Golf Shoots Season-Best Score, Finishes Second

Reedley College finished second out of seven schools at Monday's Big Eight Conference South Golf Tournament at the Ridge Creek Golf and Country Club in Dinuba.
The Tigers shot a season-best team score of 374 but were edged out by Fresno City's 369, which was 31 shots better than their season average. Folsom Lake was third with 375, followed by Monterey Peninsula with 381, Sierra with 389, San Joaquin Delta with 393, and Modesto with 405.


Cole Obrigewitsch shot a 70 to lead the Tigers. Joe Chiarito shot a 69 to take medalist honors. Emil Ericksson was next for Reedley with a 73 while Jacob Moller, Miguel Villa and Jack Peters each shot rounds of 77. Patrick Sperling had a non-scoring round of 79.
Three Tigers played as individuals. Josh Bennett led the way with a 74. Zac Ruskofsky with a 76 while Carlos Carrillo had a 78.


'We still have an 11-point lead with only two tournaments to play," said Stark. ''So I think we're in pretty good shape." The coach said that it was only the second time in the last 11 years that Reedley lost to Fresno City.
The Tigers return to action next Monday in Bakersfield, playing in the Rig City Invitational at the Bakersfield Country Club.

April 4, 2022  -  The Reedley College golf team played Big 8 Conference South Division Tournament #8 at Ridge Creek Golf Club in Dinuba.  This was a neutral site Big 8 Conference Major Tournament with the Reedley Tigers serving as the hosts for the day.  The Tigers played really solid team golf, shooting a very respectable score of 374 (+14) in absolutely beautiful, sunny weather, with terrific playing conditions.  The 374 total was the best team score on the season for the Tigers! The Tigers had all five players who posted solid rounds in the '70s, and had the 2nd best individual score of the tournament!  Leading the way for the Tigers and recording 7 Birdies on the way to a terrific round was Cole Obrigewitsch, who posted an under-par round of 70 (-2).  The 7 Birdies ties a Reedley College school record for 1 round.  Emil Eriksson carded a solid round of 1 over par 73, finishing in a tie for 5th place overall.  Jacob Moller, Jack Peters and Miguel Villa all fired rounds of 77, rounding out the scoring for the Tigers on the day.  The Tigers totaled 15 birdies on the day, but had their Big 8 Conference 1st place lead trimmed to 11 points with their 2nd place finish in Dinuba.  The Tigers' Big 8 record now stands at 29-3-1.  Reedley now has accumulated 57 points over second-place Fresno City College's 46.  The Tigers improved to 30-3-1 on the season, and are looking forward to the Rig City Invitational at Bakersfield Country Club in Bakersfield on Monday, April 11th.  The BC Renegades will be the host team for this tournament.  A shotgun start is slated to begin at 10:00 am in Kern County.
