Men's Golf Takes Second In Conference Tournament

Under tough weather conditions, with temperatures in the high-50s and wind gusting up to 20 mph, the Tigers battled the tough Del Monte Golf Course, the oldest course in the United States west of the Mississippi River, and shot a team score of 411.  The Tigers came in 2nd place on the day by a mere 3 strokes to tournament host Monterey Peninsula College. The Tigers definitely did not play their best golf.  Leading the way for Reedley College was Jacob Moller, who shot a 5 over par round of 77, and finished as the Tournament Medalist, Jacob's 1st college win of his career!!  Emil Eriksson posted the next best round of 80, also finishing in the Top 5.  Cole Obrigewitsch and Patrick Sperling both contributed rounds of 84 for the Tigers. Josh Bennett rounded out the scoring on the afternoon with an 86.  The Tigers were not as sharp on this day and made some mistakes on the tough Charles Maud design.  Reedley was not satisfied with their effort, and know that they must continue to improve as they get closer to the grind of the regular season.  The Tigers' record in conference now stands at 19-1, winning 4 of the 5 conference tournaments to date, and overall the Tigers are 20-1 on the season.  The Tigers still hold an 11 point tournament advantage over the Fresno City team.  Reedley has 38 points, and 2nd place FCC has 27 total points.  Monterey Peninsula is in 3rd place with 25 points, only 2 points behind FCC. Next on the schedule is a tournament at Hunter Ranch Golf Course in Paso Roble.  Reedley College is the host for this Big 8 South Division neutral site event. The tournament is Monday, with tee times at 12:00 noon on the beautiful Central Coast.
