Men's Golf Takes 9th At Riverside City Invite

The Reedley College Tigers played in the annual Riverside City College Tiger Invitational, hosted by the RCC Tigers of the Orange Empire Conference.  The tournament was held at The Victoria Club, a beautiful 1903 design and terrific golf course, and the Tigers posted a very solid team score of 393 in sunny and warm conditions, especially with winds of up to 15 mph, making scoring very difficult.  The Tigers placed 9th overall in the 16-team golf tournament, representing Northern California very well against the other 15 Southern California schools.  Team medalist honors for the Tigers went to Freshman Cole Obrigewitsch, who both posted a very solid round of 73 (+1), finishing in T-6 overall in the 94 player field. Freshman Jacob Moller, Patrick Sperling, and Jack Peters all turned in rounds of 7-over par 79.  Freshmen Miguel Villa completed the scoring for the Tigers with an 83 on the day.  This was the 6th year that the Tigers have played in this premier event, and finishing only 10 shots behind the winner was a positive note to take away from the event! Overall, it was a terrific building block for the 2022 season, going on the road for over 4 hours and playing a terrific golf course without ever seeing it beforehand.  The Tigers look forward to their next tournament at Kings River Golf & Country Club next Monday.  The tournament will be a Big 8 South Division Conference tournament against Fresno City, Monterey Peninsula, and Taft.  It will also be the 4th conference tournament for each of these 4 divisional rivals. A shotgun start is scheduled for 12:00 noon in Kingsburg.
