Men's Golf Wins Fifth Straight Conference Match

Led by Chris Chomyn's round of 69, the Reedley College men's golf team won Monday's Big 8 South Conference tournament by 36 strokes.

The Tigers, unbeaten in conference action, extended their lead in the conference with the superb performance at the Kings River Golf and Country Club in Kingsburg.

Reedley had a team score of 373. San Jose City College took second with a 409, followed by Fresno City at 417 and Monterey Peninsula at 419.

"We played solid golf," said Tiger head coach Scott Stark. "I was happy with Chris' 69. He made five birdies. We were much better than everyone else."

Chomyn took individual medalist honors by five strokes over Justin Polk of San Jose, who shot a 74.

Other Tiger scores included Matthew Frith with a 75, Tommy O'Rourke and Hogi Selling with rounds of 76, Beau Willett with a 77 and Justin Kim with a non-scoring 85.
