Tigers Defeat Merced 3-1 to Close Out Home Season

Reedley College played the role of spoiler in Central Valley Conference women's volleyball action by dropping Merced College into a three-way tie for second place with a 3-1 score on Wednesday night in Reedley.

Set scores were 25-18, 17-25, 25-18 and 25-21.

The win improved Reedley to 8-7 in conference play and 11-12 overall while Merced fell to 11-5 in CVC action (tied for second place with College of the Sequoias and Taft) and 17-6 overall.

Reedley closes out the season with a 5 pm match in Ridgecrest against the Cerro Coso College Coyotes. The Lady Tigers have clinched fifth place in the conference.

Before the match, the Tigers honored sophomores Madison Gardner (Kingsburg) and Patricia Thomasian (Minarets).

Freshman Beatriz Jimenez (Dinuba) led Reedley with 12 kills while Gardner finished with 10. Freshman setter Katelyn Velasquez (Reedley) recorded 35 assists.
