Women's Golf Remains Undefeated With Home Win

By a margin of just four strokes, the Reedley College women's golf team remained undefeated in Big 8 Conference action on Thursday afternoon at the Kings River Golf and Country Club in Kingsburg.

Reedley finished with a team score of 333 just ahead of second-place Modesto Junior College's 337. Sierra College was next with a 345. Other team scores in the eight-team tournament included San Joaquin Delta with a 375, Sacramento City College with 382, Butte with a 392, Napa Valley with a 417 and Taft with a 425.

Modesto's Sam Smebshammer took overall individual medalist honors with a 37-39–76. Hailey Salomone of Sierra was second at 38-39–77 while a consistent Monica Yu (San Diego of Reedley was third at 39-39–78.

Other Reedley scores included Alyssa Bendure with a 43-40–83, Serena DiMauro with a 42-44–86 and Mya Chao with a 41-45–86. Recording non-scoring rounds for the Tigers were Serena Garcia with a 41-52–93 and McKenzie Quinn at 45-50–95.

Reedley is scheduled to return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 8 at the 14th annual Jan High Memorial Tournament at the Bing Maloney Golf Course. The Tigers are the defending champion in the tournament, which uses a modified Stableford Rules scoring system.

The fifth Big 8 Tournament will be held on Thursday, Oct. 10 at noon in Turlock.
