Women's Basketball Wins Over COS On The Road

Led by 39 points from Aurelie Bevao, the Reedley College Lady Tiger basketball team upset the number 10 team in Northern California in Visalia Saturday afternoon.

Bevao made all 14 of her free throws in Reedley's 68-63 victory over the College of the Sequoias.

The Giants opened the Central Valley Conference contest by taking a 13-3 lead before Bevao and her teammates got hot. An Amanpreet Kaur basket gave Reedley an 18-17 lead 85 seconds into the second quarter.

Kaur finished with a double-double as the freshman from Fowler recorded 10 points and 13 rebounds.

Bevao made 7 of 15 from the 3-point arc and 2-of-3 on two points to finish 9-of-18 from the field and made all 14 of her free throws. She was the only Tiger to make a 3-point attempt as the rest of the team missed all 13 attempts.

She has battled injuries in her Reedley College career and has worked hard to battle back.

Point guard Chastity Martinez finished with eight points and a season-high 14 assists.

Reedley improved to 2-1 in CVC play and 7-12 overall while Sequoias fell to 1-3 in conference action and 12-8 overall.

Next up will be a 5 pm matchup on Wednesday, Jan. 22 with the Merced College Blue Devils before a 3 pm home game on Saturday, Jan. 25 with the Fresno City College Rams. Both Merced and Fresno were easy winners last Saturday as the Rams rolled to a 100-33 win over Porterville while Merced defeated Taft.
