TIgers Lose To Canyons At COS Tournament

A two-game losing streak has dropped the Reedley College women's basketball team to 5-4 on the season.

The Lady Tigers opened the 42nd annual Gilchrist Invitational in Visalia on Thursday with a 54-51 win over Pasadena City before falling to Ventura 74-52 on Friday and an 84-59 loss to Canyons on Saturday.

In the win over Pasadena, Reedley took the lead for good at 52-50 on a lay-up by Stephanie Cervantes (Dinuba) with 58 seconds remaining. Chloe Welch (Exeter). who made all 14 of her free throws in the win, closed out the scoring by making two free throws with one second left.

Welch led the Lady Tigers with 16 points while Cervantes finished with 10.

In the loss to Ventura, Reedley fell behind 26-14 after the first 10 minutes. I'man Conley (Edison, Fresno) led the Lady Tigers with 16 points while Cervantes netted 10. Sam Mendoza (Dinuba) had nine points in only 12 minutes of action.

Conley had 19 points in the loss to Canyons as the Tigers' made only 4 of 31 3-point shot attempts.

Reedley returns to action on Dec. 4 at Foothill College before facing Cabrillo College in Aptos the next day.
