Women's Basketball Goes 1-2 at Saddleback Tournament

While the Reedley College men's basketball team had two games postponed due to poor air quality in Northern California, the Lady Tigers went 1-2 at a tournament at Saddleback College in Southern California last week.

Coach Dan Kilbert's squad opened up the Saddleback Tournament last Thursday with a 59-55 win over the tournament host before falling to eventual tournament champion Moorpark on Friday. Los Angeles Trade Tech took third place in the eight-team tournament with a 95-62 win over Reedley on Saturday morning.

Against Saddleback, I'man Conley led RC with 13 points and nine rebounds. Freshman Sam Mendoza came off the bench to score 11 points while Chloe Welch had 12 rebounds.

Barbara Rangel led Moorpark with 21 points and six blocked shots as Reedley could not recover from a 30-18 first quarter deficit. Conley led the Tigers with a season-high of 29 points.

LA Trade Tech finished with five players in double figures in the Saturday win. Welch led Reedley with 21 points while Conley recorded 19 points and 10 rebounds.

The Reedley men will take a season record of 1-0 into a Thursday, Nov. 29 contest in Elk Grove in the James Clark Tournament against Sacramento City College.
