Tiger Softball Wins Over Taft

Reedley College moved into a tie with Taft College in the Central Valley Conference softball standings with a 6-2 win in Taft on Thursday afternoon.

Emily Grimbeby allowed only three hits and struck out 12 to get the pitching win for the Tigers, who improved to 1-2 in the CVC and 11-7-1 overall. The freshman from Sierra High School struck out the side in the seventh inning.

Julia Jimenez and Lauren Costa, both Reedley High grads, were the offensive stars for the Tigers. Costa hit a 3-run homer in the second inning while Jimenez finished with eight total bases after recording two doubles and a solo home run. Sienna Esquivel added two singles in the 12-hit attack while Lilianna Felix added a sacrifice fly.

Reedley returns to action next Tuesday with a 1 pm doubleheader at Porterville before hosting Cerro Coso next Thursday at 1 pm.
