Men's Golf Clinches Big 8 South!

The Tigers hosted the 5th Big 8 Conference tournament of the season at Merced Golf & Country Club in Merced, a neutral site for the teams in the conference, and a 93-year old golf course with a lot of character surrounding the beautiful layout. The weather conditions were nearly perfect, with lots of sunshine, and temperatures in the high 70's.  The Tigers took advantage of the terrific scoring conditions, and as a result, played a solid round of golf as a team, shooting a 366 on the afternoon, the best of the 2019 season so far, and placing 1st among the 5 teams.  The Tigers had a season-high of 17 Birdies and an Eagle on the day in securing the conference championship outright!! Leading the way for the Tigers was Tommy O'Rourke, who posted a round of 71 (-1), and was the Individual Medalist for the day.  Dylan Otto and Bailey Flickinger both posted Even par rounds of 72, finishing in a T-2nd overall for their efforts.  Xavier Coreno gutted out a solid round of 73. Xavier had started the day at +3 through the first 4 holes but was able to shoot -2 for the final 14 holes of his round, and displaying his mental toughness.  Morgan Cooper rounded out the Tigers' scoring by shooting a score of 78.  The 366 team score was 15 shots ahead of Fresno City College and allowed the Reedley team to continue their dominance in the Big 8 South standings after 5 tournaments.  The Tigers left with a record of 4-0 for the day, and an overall record of 21-0 on the season, 20-0 in the Big 8 South Division, and enabled the Tigers to build a comfortable fourteen point advantage over 2nd place Fresno City College after five tournaments.  Next up on the schedule for the Tigers will be a conference tournament at Buena Vista Golf Course in Taft on Monday.  Taft College is the host school, and tee time is scheduled for 12 noon on the west side of Kern County.
