Men's Golf Takes Second At The Riverside City Invitational

The Reedley College Tigers played in the annual Riverside City College Invitational, hosted by the RCC Tigers.  The weather was unbelievable, with sunny, blue skies and temperatures in the mid-60's. There was just a hint of a breeze, but nothing that would prevent the players from posting solid scores.  The tournament was held at The Victoria Club, a 116-year old facility in Riverside, and the Tigers posted a very solid team score of 369 (+9).  The Tigers finished in a tie for 2nd place in the 11-team tournament, only finishing behind the Cypress College Chargers from Southern California, by 4 shots.  Team medalist honors for the Tigers went to Freshman Tommy O'Rourke, who posted a very solid round of 70 (-2), and finished in T-3rd place Individually.  Sophomore Bailey Flickinger turned in a very solid round of 1-over par 73, and finished in a T-9th position Individually.  Freshman Beau Willett also had a good day, posting a round of 2-over par 74.  Sophomore Dylan Otto fired a round of 75, finishing with 15 pars on his card.  Lastly, Sophomore Morgan Cooper carded a round of 77 to cap the scoring for the Tigers.  This was the 4th time that the Tigers have played in this event representing Northern California, and they have never finished outside of the Top 4! Overall, it was a terrific building block for the 2019 season, and the Tigers look forward to their next tournament at Sunnyside Country Club in Fresno on Monday.  The tournament will be a Big 8 South Division tournament against Fresno City, San Jose City, Monterey Peninsula, and Taft.  It will be the 3rd Big 8 Conference mini tournament for each of these 5 divisional rivals, with Reedley holding a 6 point advantage through the previous two tournaments. A shotgun start is scheduled for 12:00 noon in Fresno.
