Men's Golf Wins Orange Empire Classic

On a beautiful, sunny and pleasant day at the Orange Empire Classic, the Tigers WON the 14-Team tournament against many of the top teams from Southern California.  Reedley, the only team from Northern California at the tournament, shot a solid team score of 370 on the difficult Candlewood Country Club layout, 20 shots over par for the day.  Considering that the Reedley team had never seen the course until the morning of the tournament, their effort on the day was superb!  The leading scorers for the Tigers were the trio of Tommy O'Rourke, Bailey Flickinger and Xavier Coreno, who all shot 3 over par 73's.  Each player tied for 2nd overall in the 84 player field, and made the O.E.C. All-Tournament Team.  The next best score for Reedley was Beau Willett, who posted a solid round of 74.   Beau also finished in the Top 10 for his efforts on the day!  Morgan Cooper posted a 77 to cap the scoring for the Tigers.  The 1st place tournament finish for the Tigers was a terrific victory so early in the season, but the Tigers know that there is a lot more golf left to play.  Next up on the schedule is the NorCal Preview Tournament at Yolo Fliers Golf Club in Woodland, a town just north of Sacramento. The host school is Sierra College, a very competitive team from the North Division of the Big 8 Conference. The Tigers will be bringing their Top 6 guys to the tournament to compete on the day.  A shotgun start is scheduled for 11:00 am.
