Adam Nelson is the 2018 Individual State Champion!

On a beautiful, sunny but breezy day in Goleta, at the Sandpiper Golf Course, the Reedley Tigers played in the 2018 Men's Golf State Championships.  The tournament consisted of 60 total players, 4 teams and 6 individuals from each region.  The Tigers were the #1 seed from the North, and the College of the Canyons Cougars were the #1 seed from the South.  The Tigers shot a solid round in the morning, a 380 total (+20), but were 18 shots behind Cypress' unbelievable team score of 362 at the break.  Leading the way for the Reedley team was Freshman Adam Nelson, who carded the best score of the morning round, shooting a -3 under par 69.  Freshmen Dylan Otto fired a 76.  Bailey Flickinger and Morgan Cooper both posted rounds of 77. Amardeep Manku completed the scoring with an 81.  The Tigers sat in 3rd place midway through the Championship.  The afternoon round was quite another story for the Reedley team, though, as the Tigers played in very windy conditions and cooler temperatures, making the golf course long and very difficult.  Leading the way for the Tigers again was Australian Adam Nelson, who posted a terrific round of Even par 72.  Dylan Otto continued a very solid day and carded a nice round of 75.  Morgan Cooper fired a round of 76. Xavier Coreno bounced back after a tough Round #1 and carded a score of 78. Bailey Flickinger capped the afternoon scoring for the Tigers with a 79.  The Tigers fell 6 shots shy of Canyons for 2nd place, but the 3rd place finish was a terrific way to end the season for the Tiger Golf program comprised of 5 Freshmen!!  Adam Nelson finished as the Overall Tournament Medalist, shooting a score of 69-72 = 141 (-3), making him the 2nd Tiger golfer in school history to take home the Individual honors at the State Championships!! The Tigers had a very successful season, winning the Central Valley Conference, the Northern California Regional Championships, and finishing in the Top 3 in the State, and best of all the Northern California teams.  There are many talented young Tigers returning for the 2019 season, and the future is extremely bright!!!
