Reedley Earns First Place in CVC Opener

The Tigers played Central Valley Conference Tournament #1 at Sunnyside Country Club in Fresno in very cold and windy conditions, with temperatures in the low 50's and with gusts over 20 mph, but the Tigers hung in there and shot a team score of 399, defeating Taft College by 4 shots, Fresno City College by 10 shots, and West Hills-Lemoore College by 14 shots.  The greens were very firm due to the fact that we have had no rain in the last few weeks, which made the scoring conditions very difficult, but the Tigers took advantage of their opportunities on the day and made 12 birdies to shoot the best team score and establish an early lead in the C.V.C. standings to begin the season. Leading the way for the Tigers was Dylan Otto, who carded 6 birdies on his way to an unbelievable round of 71 (-1).  Dylan was 6 shots clear of the next best golfer in the C.V.C. on the day, and easily claimed medalist honors.  Amar Manku carded a competitive round of 7 over par 79. Morgan Cooper posted a round of 82.  Adam Nelson shot a score of 83, and Calvin Mitchell completed the scoring for the Tigers by shooting an 84.  The win moved the Tigers to 3-0 in the C.V.C..  The Tigers had 2 of the Top 6 players in the C.V.C. Individual Standings.  Next up for the Tigers will be a tournament on Wednesday at Buena Vista Golf Course in Taft.  Tee time is scheduled for 12:00 noon at the home of the Taft College Cougars.
