TIgers Lose Conference Match At Merced

Reedley College has started Central Valley Conference men's basketball action with a pair of losses.

The Tigers dropped their conference opener 84-64 last Thursday in Reedley to Porterville College before a 67-62 loss at Merced College last Saturday night.

Reedley had only seven players in uniform against the Blue Devils but still led 33-31 at halftime. Ruben Parks led RC with 17 points while Tyre Hicks came off the bench to add 14.

In the loss to Porterville, Reedley cut into a 16-point deficit to trail 45-39 at halftime before the Pirates started the second half with a 9-0 run. Uriah Carter led Reedley with 23 points but was only 9 of 21 from the floor. Parks had 10 of his 16 points in the second half while Khalid Wilkins netted 13 of his 15 in the first 20 minutes.

On Wednesday, Jan. 9, Reedley headed to Visalia for a 6 p.m. matchup with an 0-2 College of the Sequoias squad before going to Ridgecrest on Monday, Jan. 14 for a 6 p.m. contest against the Cerro Coso College Coyotes.

The next home game for the Tigers is a 6 p.m. matchup on Wednesday, Jan. 16 against conference newcomer West Hills Lemoore.
