Tigers Fight Off Cosumnes River Comeback, Win Consolation Championship

After winning the consolation championship in the 40th annual James Clark Classic in Sacramento last weekend, the 4-1 Reedley College Tiger men's basketball team has the second best record in the Central Valley Conference.

The 3-1 Tigers opened the tournament with a 74-71 loss to Sacramento City College on Thursday before defeating Napa Valley 74-60 on Friday and tournament host Cosumnes River 72-71 on Saturday.

Against Sac City, the Tigers' could never recover from a 42-37 halftime deficit.

Sophomore Ruben Parks exploded for 29 points in the win over Napa. Dwayne Howell came off the bench to add 15 for the winners.

On Twitter, Parks announced Sunday that he will continue his academic and basketball career at Humboldt State University. Parks leads the state in scoring on the community college level.

Parks netted 23 points in the win over Cosumnes. Uriah Carter added 20 points while Khalid Wilkins netted 18.

Only unbeaten Columbia has a better record in the conference than the Tigers.
