Five California community college football teams remain undefeated in 2018.
One of those five is the Reedley College Tigers.
Reedley improved to 6-0 Saturday afternoon in Gilroy with a 38-6 domination of the winless Gavilan College Rams.
Next up for the Tigers will be a 1 pm Saturday matchup with the San Jose City College Jaguars. San Jose City is coming off a 28-0 loss to the other undefeated team in the American Golden Coast Conference, the Hartnell College Panthers. Reedley faces Hartnell in the regular season finale in Salinas on Nov. 10.
Against Gavilan, the Reedley defense did not allow a touchdown as the Rams' only score came on a 68-yard interception return by Alec Calderon.
Jamon Chambers scored the first two Tiger touchdowns on runs of 1 and 8 yards. The first score was set up on a pass play to the Gavilan 1 from Randall Johnson to Nicholas Clarke. The same pair combined on two more touchdown passes on an 18-yard score late in the first half and a 21-yarder in the third quarter. Clarke finished the afternoon with five receptions for 123 yards.
Before that, Michael Hamman kicked a 21-yard field goal.
Sophomore defensive back Isaiah C. Tigler closed out the scoring in the fourth quarter by returning a Gavilan fumble twenty six yards for a touchdown.
The Tiger defense held Gavilan to just 73 net yards and six first downs while the offense finished with 446 yards and 26 first downs. Nine Tiger receivers caught passes from three different quarterbacks.
