In 2017, the Tigers defeated Lassen College in dramatic fashion on Grant Farris’s 2 out 2 run home run in the bottom of the 9th inning in a 8-7 thriller.  The Tigers then took eventual state runner-up Santa Rosa to a deciding 3rd game losing 3-1. In 2018, the Tigers traveled to Feather River and were defeated in the 3rd game of the best of 3 series. In 2020 the Tigers were 15-6 at the mid-point of their season before the Pandemic hit in March and shut down the rest of the season.  In 2023, the Tigers defeated Feather River in the 3 game series in the 1st round of the State playoffs.  They moved on to the Super Regional defeating Canada and then eventually dropping 2 games to Santa Rosa finishing the season with a 30-15-1 record. Reedley College named Pearse the Head Coach in July 2010 after he guided UCLA to a runner-up finish in the College World Series.

Pearse served as an assistant coach under his father, Tom, at Laney College in Oakland.  Laney advanced to the Junior College playoffs each of his three seasons.

In 1992 Pearse was an assistant coach at UC Berkeley, guiding the Golden Bears to a 35-28 record and a College World Series appearance.  From 1993-2002, Pearse served as an assistant coach for Hall of Fame Coach Bob Bennett at Fresno State, where he was also a two-year letter winner (1987-88).  As a coach, Pearse helped lead the Bulldogs to four Western Athletic Conference Western Division Titles (1993-95, 98) and seven NCAA regional appearances (1993-97, 2000-01).

In 2003 Pearse assisted Head Coach Mike Weathers at Long Beach State. That season, the Dirtbags finished 41-20 and captured the Big West Conference title with a 16-5 mark sweeping the Long Beach Regional and advancing to the Super Regional in Palo Alto.

From 2004-08 Pearse was an assistant coach at the University of the Pacific.  UOP posted back to back 30 win seasons for the first time in school history in 2005-06.

Pearse arrived at UCLA in the fall of 2008 and helped the Bruins land two Top 15 recruiting classes.  In 2010 the Bruins magical run ended in the National Championship series as they fell to South Carolina in the final game at historical Rosenblatt Stadium.  The Bruins ended the year 51-17 which will go down as one of the greatest years in UCLA Baseball history.

A two-year letter winner at Fresno State, Pearse earned 3rd team All-American honors in 1988 after hitting .381 and collecting 111 hits helping the Bulldogs to the College World Series.  During that season the Bulldogs won 32 straight games and 45 of 47.  Fresno State also led the country in attendance, totaling 159,205 (3,317 per game avg.).  In 1987 Pearse registered a .338 Batting Average or the Bulldogs.

Following the 1988 season, Pearse signed with the Montreal Expos and played in their Minor League system reporting to Rockford, Illinois in the Midwest League.  In 1994, Pearse was inducted into the Fresno State Baseball Hall of Fame.  In November 2012 Pearse was inducted into the El Cerrito High School Athletic Hall of Fame where he led the Gauchos in 1983 (Junior year) to the top ranking in the state of California and was ranked 2nd nationally.

31 former players that Pearse has coached have reached the major leagues, 10 were selected in the 1st round of the professional Baseball draft, and over 185 former players have moved on to professional Baseball.  In 2021, Tiger 2nd Baseman BJ Vela, who led the State of California in hitting with a .481 average and was drafted and signed with the Boston Red Sox in the 16th round. Vela was the only California Junior College Position player taken in the draft.
